301 Redirection – The way to redirect your back link power
Published on October 23, 2008 |
You have a blog based on wordpress script. You are very successful at your blogging life. Your blog got much back links but it’s the time to change the URL. You think that /categoryname/postname.html would be better for SEO than categoryname/posteID.html. But what do to with backlinks linking to your post? Do you want to lose them?? I thing you don’t. So what to do??
There is a great solution to don’t lose your backlink ever you change your URL way. In most case the solution is 301 Redirect or A.K.A “Google friendly redirection”. You can use 301 redirection from your .httacces file on your root directory and it’s easy like open and close your eyes.
Don’t think that you would not use 301 redirection if you don’t have wordpress blog. There are many other reasons for creating 301 redirects. If you have a large and popular site links all back links will become broken if you delete the old page. All your site’s “Backlink Power” will be transferred to the new URL if you redirect to new URL by 301 redirection.
The best choice is to make an update ( if updates can be made ) to an existing page without changing the URL.
